Taking Accountability And Rejecting Procrastination
Someone who has a task at hand that they must perform to meet specific results will find nothing but failure if they procrastinate. The job will simply not be done if the goal is not met and the goal cannot be met if the person keeps putting the job off. They must take accountability, take responsibility and finish what they began.
It is a sign of maturity to take full responsibility for things that go wrong. Many people attempt to lie, manipulate situations, deceive others and falsify data in order to shirk their responsibility. This is a sign that they still have some growing to do. In business, one must act like an adult to be taken seriously by anyone they encounter. Putting things off and not meeting deadlines can jeopardize a blooming career. Procrastination leads to highly stressful situations. Stressful situations make the work environment hard to deal with, especially when coworkers are involved in the situation. Mistakes are made quicker when there are people are tired and aggravated.
If a project is delayed for too long, it is doomed to fail. Once a deadline is set, it should be adhered to. The intelligent go getter will get right to the job, finished the project before it is due, reaching the goal faster than predicted.
There are consequences to every action that is enacted throughout life. Any person who sets themselves up in a position to make and implement plans should understand that the problems that come up are theirs to solve; the job must be done properly and monitored for obstacles at all times. They may be required to put in extra time as it is. If they procrastinate, the plan could become twice as complicated as unnoticed problems get bigger and bigger.
There are some managers and leaders who seem to think that if they have been given a generous amount of time to complete a job, they can put it off for a bit. This is the wrong way to look at it. If there is a lot of time to finish something, it can be done immediately, quickly and gotten out of the way so that the next project can be planned out. Remember that time is money.
Beginning a job right away will also ensure that there will be less stress felt to get it done. The pressure of an impending deadline is enough to drive some people crazy. If they feel like they may not be able to do a good job or situations might arise that they cannot handle, they should ask for help from people who know what they are doing.
Anyone who is in charge of a team or must finish a job on their own should be aware that they will be taking the accountability for any and all results, even if they are not what was expected.
