Luxury Chalets Switzerland For Alpine Vacations
The luxury chalets Switzerland provides for visitors are no longer the exclusive preserve of the wealthy. The huge number and variety of luxury Swiss chalets in the Alps from St. Moritz to Champex-Lac and Verbier means that an ordinary traveler is able to afford a luxurious getaway or winter vacation. Here’s an overview of what travelers need to look out for.
The classic definition of a chalet is a wooden cabin up in the mountains with a sloping roof and all. It goes back a long way to a time when Swiss farmers would herd their cattle up to the mountains for the summer. When winter came along, the cabins would be locked up and everyone went back down.
Later on, as tourism took hold in the Swiss Alps, these cabins began to be rented out to travelers and skiers during the winter instead of being boarded up. Over time, this has become their main purpose, and wooden cabins meant for lowly herders turned into luxury Swiss villas. Most of these villas Switzerland offers are now very upscale properties, filled with all kinds of facilities and amenities.
A guest here will have access to everything from broadband/wi-fi internet to plasma television and DVD players. Wood burning fireplaces are still available in every cabin, and so are boot dryers and ski storage space. A standard issue property can easily sleep eight to nine guests in 3 to 4 bedrooms. Cost and facilities aside, the location is a big factor too.
All other things being equal, it’s a heck of a job to decide which of the Alpine resorts or regions here is better than the rest. It doesn’t help that the luxury Switzerland villas are just as good in all the places. So the choice often depends on where the traveler is coming from and going to. For instance, those entering via Italy and heading for Geneva may find it easier to choose an Alpine getaway close by, such as chalets in Lausanne, Lugano, Champex-Lac or Verbier.
The view is also an important issue, and so is the location as related to nearby attractions. By definition, the cabin is expected to have a mountain view. It’s even better if it is in a scenic location where the view can be enjoyed all year long. Ski chalets should be close to the ski-lifts, and many are in fact of the ski-in ski-out type which makes it a lot easier.
The location apart, there are other options too. For starters, there are the catering choices, and it’s possible to get a self-catered property, or one that’s semi-catered or fully catered. Regardless, the property is sure to have a well-equipped kitchen with everything from a dishwasher to a microwave, along with enough dining space for a large group.
The important thing, as far as the ordinary traveler is concerned, is that these luxury chalets Switzerland or France villas are no longer the preserve of the wealthy. The cost of a family stay in these Swiss villas is no more or less than paying for a nice hotel. Considering the comfort and luxurious facilities, it’s actually a very good deal.
The ingredients of their success is unmatched within the industry, check out French villas for all of your get away dreams.
