5 Great Steps To Create A Personal Budget
Creating a personal budget is not the easiest thing in the world to do. It may seem like a walk in the park or a breeze, but if you’ve never had to set one, it could be a pretty difficult task. A lot of people are finding themselves in this very situation. Instead of being the leisure shopper they once were, they’ve become a penny pincher. Many people find themselves in this very situation because of the economy’s current condition. The steps to create a personal budget are very simple to follow.
Here, your paycheck stubs are very important. This is what you will use to figure your budget. It is important to make one that is reasonable. It’s a tough time for everyone, but this is where prioritizing comes in to help. Many people don’t realize how much they really don’t need every month until they set some sort of limits.
The next step requires a little basic math. The two lists that you just made, add up the cost for each one and get the total. You may not know the exact cost for each item, but set an amount that you are willing to spend just for that and make sure that you don’t go over. Once you have done this, add both of these sums up and find the total. After you do, subtract this from your paycheck, and add it to your budget.
The first step is for all of your bills that will generally be the same every month. These certain bills are known as fixed expenses. These are the ones that you are not able to change. An example of this would be rent and utility expenses. Now, you will need to write down everything you need to live and survive. These are what are known as basic needs. This list should be written under the first one, keep both lists on the same sheet of paper.
This is the time when most people start to prioritize. The expenses that have to be paid first or at the beginning of the month should be at the top of your list. These expenses usually include rent and a few utility bills. Groceries and toiletries become secondary. Once you get used to your current budget, you can go through and adjust whatever yo would like, but make sure you stay reasonable within it.
Defining and staying within a set amount of money can be pretty frustrating, especially if you’ve never had to before. The last step you have to take is to be patient. This may take a while to get used to, but you will come out better in the long run. Some things just take time.
